24 Days of Christmas, Day 20 Pimm’s and Lemonade

Christmas is a time for alcohol and i’m here to help you prepare for the silly season!

A fantastic summer/Christmas drink is the good ol’ Pimms and Lemonade. Come summer time and this drink is running through my veins.

According to About.com Pimm’s originated in a bar, in London, owned by James Pimm’s in 1840.  Here he created the Pimm’s ’house cup’ flavored with liqueurs and fruit extract. He blended his famous ‘No 1 Cup’ after building up a chain of restaurants and by 1865 the first bottle of Pimm’s sold for 3 shillings.

Pimm’s can be served on ice or in cocktails but I like mine ‘English-style’, here is the recipe:

PIMM’S ENGLISH-STYLE COCKTAIL AKA PIMM’S AND LEMONADE

Pimms and Lemonade

INGREDIENTS

Pimm’s

Chilled lemonade

Mint

Cucumber

Orange

Strawberries

METHOD

Take a jug or long drink glass and fill it with ice

Mix 1 part Pimm’s with 3 parts chilled lemonade.

Add some mint, cucumber and strawberry aaaaaaaaand VOILA!

Easy huh? Tasty ey?

Are you a fellow lover or Pimm’s and lemonade?
