Friday Favourites

Oh yeah, it's finallly Friday!

Mushies – this week I tried out a stuffed-mushroom recipe my sister-in-law gave me and it was bloody fantastic! I was so disappointed when I finished eating it. The recipe is on its way…

Winter Warmer – All this week I’ve been busting to hop into bed every night because the electric blanket is back on for winter! Love getting into a toasty warm bed, only issue is that it’s getting harder to get up in the morning.

Where Has This Been All My Life – This week I finally tried Maggie Beer’s Burnt Fig, Honeycomb & Caramel Ice Cream and I am kicking myself for not trying it earlier. Have you tried it yet?

On My Lips – My favourite lippie at the moment is MAC’s Pro Longwear Lip Creme, colour Overtime. A beautiful soft subtle pink that lasts for hours and hours even after eating and drinking. MAC’s Pro Longwear Lip Creme is definitely one of my favourite long-lasting lipsticks. Check out the range here.

My Secret Weapon - I love going to the beauticians for a micro-dermabrasion. I love it when they take the vacum-like contraption to my face and you can feel all that gross dead skin being sucked away leaving my skin clean and very clear.   I’m a busy lady and don’t have the time (or money) to pay regular visits to the salon for this treatment so I do it at home using Kiehls Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion.
What they say:”This skin-polishing cream is formulated with “diatomatious earth” – crushed shells derived from ocean sand– and a powerful ingredient utilized by dermatologists to perform in-office micro-dermabrasion procedures. The formula affords an immediate skin-smoothing effect and, with regular use over time, helps to visibly minimize the appearance of pores and facial lines. Over time, skin is significantly smoother and clearer. As skin is re-texturized, the formula helps to prepare skin for the application of topical treatments and to enhance their efficacy”. For more information click here.

Soon you will call me the Pie Queen of Sydney – Last weekend I made the Marshmallow Mermaid Pie from the Kerri Russell film Waitress and now I can’t get pies off my mind. I’m considering setting myself a new challenge where I make a different pie every week. Do you think I should do it? If I get enough votes then I totally will :-)  Check out my pie inspiration page on Pinterest here.

Making Life Easier - I regularly paint my nails and picking a colour every few days can be tough when your collection is sitting at around 80 bottles or so.  Until now my polish selection process takes a good ten minutes as I’m putting about half a dozen testers on my thumb and removing it again.  Then I found these nail polish swatches - I have painted all my colours onto the nails matched to the polish brand and name making selection ten times easier.  You can buy these swatches from eBay, Amazon and most beauty wholesalers.

Girls Getaway – I have never been on holidays with girlfriends. Ever. Well I’ve had two overnight trips with the girls to Canberra (hey don’t laugh it was to shop at my auntie’s wicked boutique and go to the very chic bars in Kingston) but I don’t think they really count. Vibe Hotel’s new ‘Looking Polished at Vibe’ might be the excuse I need to arrange a much-needed girls trip. To learn more about the package and the stats relating to women and girl time check out my post from earlier this week here.

Get In My Belly – I am so unbelievably excited for dinner on Saturday night at one of my all-time favourite restaurants Barrio Chino for one of my gorgeous sisters’ bdays. I can’t rave about Barrio Chino enough and recommend that you visit at least one and be sure to try the corn! Check out my review of Barrio Chino here.

Mother’s Day - Haven’t bought a gift for mum yet? Not to fear, check out my Mother’s Day gift guide here.

I hope you have the most wonderful weekend and I wish all the mothers / mother-figures out there a very, very Happy Mother’s Day.

And wishing my sister a very Happy Birthday!

Happy Mothers Day Mum!

Always a fan of the red lipstick!

I think you should absolutely set yourself a pie challenge. I think you need to make a grasshopper pie and then post the recipe. Do it… do it… do it…
