Friday Favourites

August 31, 2012

 It’s Friday! Woohoo!

It has been a very, very long and stressful week and I am so happy that it is finally Friday. This weekend I’m going to be a total sloth and just do nothing and I can’t wait.

What have you got planned for the weekend?

September is going to be a cracker for Lipstick & Cake with another competition coming shortly, more recipes, more beauty news and some interesting interviews to come.

Happy Friday to my beautiful readers xx

What a view, what a city! – Yesterday I attended Hello Darling’s Spring Collection launch at The Four Seasons, Sydney. Wow, what a hotel and what a view!!
Been busy building – Last weekend Beau and I finally got around to building my little herb garden on wheels (to wheel in and out of the shade, and easy to transport if we move house). It was so much easier than I thought to make and only took an hour or so. Tutorial coming next week!
Flapjacks – I first discovered flapjacks when I lived in the UK. I had always thought that they were American Pancakes but they’re more like a slice with oats and sultanas. I found a recipe for flapjacks in one of my new cookbooks, David Herbert’s Best Ever Baking Recipes cookbook. It’s a very simple recipe to follow and a very easy dish to eat! Check out the recipe here.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the latest collections from Hello Darling – Not Your Nanna’s Nightie (soft pastels) and Crazy In Love (hot neons).
Check out Hello Darling’s Facebook page (http://facebook.com/hellodarling to see images of the cute collections… and stay tuned for more details, photos from the launch and swatches.
Many a mani – I don’t know about you but I love getting a mani! Yesterday I was spoilt with a mani at the Hello Darling event by the Nail Lab. They did a fantastic job and I can’t stop looking at my neon digits.
A little bit cattish – Love my new sunnies from Witchery
Hair crush – Argh! I wish I could make my hair look like this!
Words to live by – I’m definitely a worrier. Leave me alone with my own thoughts for too long and my imagination goes wild!
Peonies – One of my favourite flowers! Wish I could grow them and have a never-ending supply for my coffee table.
Bright and beautiful – This week I was sent a few lipsticks from BYS. Yesterday I wore Kiss and Make Up and absolutely loved it. Soft and creamy texture, glides on, didn’t dry out my lips and it actually stayed on for a quite a while! Check out the complete BYS range here.
Sleeping – I can’t wait to have a sleep in this weekend!
Flawless – Emma Stone is my girl crush. Her look is classic and her skin is gorgeous. Love her makeup in this shot.
Photo A Day September – Have you heard of Fat Mum Slim’s Photo A Day challenge? Want to know how to play? “First up grab a camera or a smart phone. Save the list to your phone, or your computer, or save it to a Facebook album, your blog or Instagram. You’re more than welcome to share it. Then when September rolls around starting taking a photo each day. For instance for the 1st of September you’ll take a photo of you now. So it could be a self-portrait photo on the day, or take a photo of a photo. Then upload it to whichever platform you want to share it on; perhaps that’s Facebook, or Instgram, or Twitter or your blog {or Pinterest, Flickr, Tumblr etc}. If sharing to Instagram or Twitter, add the hashtag #FMSphotoaday.” To check out the list click here.
On my desk – Is some wattle I picked on my walk the other day. I love the colour, the smell and the look of wattle.
Nailpolish heaven – at Hello Darling’s Spring Collection launch last night! Too many colours to pick from. Stay tuned for reviews and swatches coming soon.

Sorry to hear you had a stressful week chick…. I bet you were crazy happy to see the weekend. How amazing is the view from the Four Seasons? Simply stunning…. love your Witchery sunnies, and Emma Stone is a total hottie. I am a massive worrier too – how much does it suck? Wish I just floated through life without a care in the world :) A xxx
