DIY Spa Day

October 2, 2012

Welcome to the Lipstick & Cake spa!

The Lipstick & Cake spa is a little different from other spa’s out there. This one is in every home and can be accessed any time.

Every few weeks I like to spoil myself with a DIY Spa Day. Not that you really need one, but here are some excuses for having one:

  • Treat your skin and body
  • Good for the soul
  • Relax
  • Spend time with a friend
  • Catch up on crappy tv or a magazine

STEP 1: Light a candle, put on some music and grab a few magazines, you’ll need them when you’re relaxing with your mask on.

STEP 2: Hop into some suitable (and comfy) clothing, like a nightie, robe and slippers.

STEP 3: Time to wax ladies! Wax those legs (and whatever else needs waxing).

I recommend:

Veet EasyWax Electrical Roll-On-Kit (Review coming shortly)

STEP 4: Let’s treat our feet to a foot spa. You can use a foot spa like I have below, or just fill the bath with water and a bit of bubble bath or body wash.

STEP 5: Now we move from the feet to the face. Cleanse that face, take off all that makeup and grime using a face cleanser.

Recommended cleansing products:

Kosmea Purifying Cream Cleanser

Clearasil PerfectaWash Automatic Dispenser and Refill

Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

STEP 6: Exfoliate – remove dead skin and reduce the facial lines with a strong exfoliator.

I recommend the following products:

Kiehls Epidermal Re-Texturising Micro-Dermabrasion

Clinique Exfoliating Scrub

STEP 7: Time for a mask – rest, re-energize, purify and cleanse with a face mask. Apply the mask then retire to the lounge with a good mag or some trashy tv. Rest up for ten minutes and let that face mask soak in.

I recommended these products:

Kora Clay Purifying Mask

Skinvitals Masks

STEP 8: Let’s concentrate on the eyes now. Go and grab one of these blue-gel eye masks (they’re cheap as chips at your local Priceline) and place in the fridge ten minutes before you want to use it.  As soon as you take of your face mask, put your eye mask on and return to the couch for another 10 minutes of relaxation!

STEP 9: Now follow your regular beauty routine. Mine is:

Rose Hip Oil (Kosmea, Kora)

Kosmea Eighth Natural Wonder Revitalising Facial Serum

Moisturiser (Kosmea Replenishing Moisture Cream, John Plunkett Essentials Multi Vitamin Moisturiser)

Wrinkle Cream (I recommend Ella Bache SpiruLines Intensive Wrinkle Smoothing Cream, Ella Bache SpiruLines Intensive Wrinkle Correcting Serum or John Plunkett Advanced Instant Wrinkle Filler)

Eye Cream (Kiehls Midnight Recovery Eye, Clinique All About Eyes, John Plunkett Essentials Refirming Eye Cream or  Yves Saint Laurent Forever Youth Liberator Eye Creme

Paint your nails (optional)

STEP 10: And last but not least moisturise your gorgeous, rejuvenated body with a delicious, rich body cream/lotion.

I recommend:

MOR Cosmetics

Cocoa Butter Formula Lotion

So if you don’t have any plans for this weekend, why don’t you treat yourself to a Lipstick & Cake Spa Day.

Great post, lovely! I’ve heard a fair bit about the Veet roll-on wax, might have to give it a go! xx

I love a good ‘at home’ spa day! I try to schedule one afternoon of pampering each fortnight.

Great post sweets! x

Fabulous idea! I have to give this a try :) I have all my products sitting at home, sad and unused and heck who doesn’t need a bit of me-time like this :D
