My interview with Amy Zempilas from Absolute Amy
Whilst I follow many blogs, there are only a few that I make sure I read daily and Absolute Amy is one of them. Absolute Amy is a fantastic lifestyle blog that covers fashion, beauty, food, health and wellbeing and motherhood.
Follow Amy as she navigates through motherhood and blogging, brings you the latest fashion and beauty finds, reviews some of Perth’s best restaurants and shares a number of delicious recipes.
Here, the gorgeous brains behind the blog, Amy Zempilas, chats to us about her site, a typical day and some of her favourite ‘things’.
Tell us about yourself and how you came to start Absolute Amy?
I’m a wife and mum to a beautiful 2-year-old girl, with another baby on the way. After I had my daughter, I discovered some really amazing blogs which inspired me in so many ways. I wondered if maybe I could start my own blog? I thought about it for about month – bounced some ideas off friends and family and then wrote my first blog post. That was over a year ago!

What do you love most about your job?
I absolutely love being a wife and mum, I feel really lucky that I can spend all my time with my daughter – she is so much fun and makes me laugh and smile every day. I also love sharing what I’m loving in my life through my blog, I love connecting with people and hearing what other people are enjoying in their life.
Describe your typical day…
I usually wake up around 6, and make breakfast for my daughter. Then we get ready for our day, we usually have an activity on whether it’s playgroup, Kindy Dance Time or a play date. I also go to Pilates twice a week. Ava sleeps most afternoons and that’s when I have a chance to catch up on e-mails, blogging and housework. After that we might have a trip to the park, or run some errands – then it’s time to start dinner!

Favourite kitchen appliance or cooking tool…
My favourite kitchen appliance is definitely my Nespresso coffee machine. It’s the best invention ever, especially for sleep deprived mummas and I really look forward to having my morning cup of coffee. It’s also really lovely to be able to offer guests cafe quality coffee when they pop in. My dream kitchen appliance is a Kitchenaid in empire red, one day it will be mine!
There are so many, but if I had to choose one it would be Nobu. I love the explosion of flavours and how the food is so clean and fresh. My favourite dish is yellowtail sashimi with jalapeños and coriander. YUM!
If you could invite three famous people (dead or alive) to dinner, who would you invite?
Ooh – great question! Anne Frank, Ita Buttrose and Coco Chanel who are all inspiring, strong and game changing women (even though Anne Frank was only 13 when she wrote her diary).
Dream holiday destination…
There are so many places I still want to see! Top of my list would have to be Hawaii and Bora Bora. I’m also obsessed with New York, when our children are old enough we’ll take them for a magical white Christmas.
I love Gone With the Wind, Steel Magnolias, Schindlers List, Shawshank Redemption, Muriels Wedding and Casino… among many others.
At the moment it’s Chanel Chance and Narciso Rodriguez In Essence
Tell us something that not many people would know about you…
I lived in Dubai and worked as a flight attendant for almost four years, it was such an exciting and fun experience.
