A new look and a launch party
Hello and welcome to the new look Lipstick & Cake!
After unexpected (but very welcomed) growth and a change in direction I decided that, after two years since going live, it was time to redesign the site. It has been a very long eight months of planning and designing, with lots of stressful moments (I can’t tell you how many times I threatened to throw my laptop out the window) but also lots of exciting moments too.
Lipstick & Cake has naturally evolved from a purely food and beauty blog to a Lifestyle website, covering food, beauty, travel and fashion. On the site you will be able to find plenty of delicious recipes and restaurant reviews, beauty news, reviews and tutorials, travel and hotel guides, fashion and homewares buys and interviews with some very inspirational people.
New features to Lipstick & Cake include an easy to navigate magazine-style layout, a nail polish and lipstick gallery (which will be continuously updated), the events and launch date calendar on the homepage and a brand spanking new weekly newsletter. Did I mention that the site is responsive? This means you can view Lipstick & Cake on your phone and tablet too!
Whilst there have been major changes to the site and lots of new inclusions many of the original aspects remain, including my weekly Monday Funday, Friday Favourites, Star Beauty Buys, Kitchen Quickie, Treads N Threads, interviews and so on.
Towards the end of last year my life underwent some pretty major changes. I decided that I wanted to give full-time blogging a crack and I also decided to follow one of my life long dreams, which was to move to the US. So, here I am, writing to you from Southern California, USA and the employer and employee of my very own company. I’m over here temporarily and loving it, working on the blog and a few other exciting projects which I hope to share with you very, very soon.
Now it wouldn’t be a launch without a launch party now, would it? Before flying over to the US I asked my mum, sisters and very good friend over to give them a sneak peek at the site and, more importantly, to help me celebrate (in advance). You’ll notice a familiar and totally gorgeous face in the photos below, it’s my friend Ms Critique. Ms Critique and I were also celebrating a little collaboration we’re working on. More details to come soon! Big thanks to Ms C for being my sounding board and wine and pork belly slider buddy during this process.
I also want to thank all my regular readers who have been so patient with the redesign and who have continued to reach out and say hey. I promise I have so much content coming your way including some super delicious recipes, easy to follow beauty tutorials, exciting travel adventures and a bucket load of interviews.
Okay well that’s enough chitchat from me for now. Take a look around and please feel free to say hi, I’d love to hear from you and know what you think.
Love Steph x
