Four Products You Need To Keep Your Skin Hydrated

When it comes to skincare I’m all about hydration so, here’s for 411! The Four Products You Need To Keep Your Skin Hydrated.

What I want most from my skincare these days is hydration! Hydration really is the most important factor when it comes to clean, clear and youthful skin.

After spending a month enjoying the snowy winter of Canada, I noticed a huge change in the condition of my skin. Not only was my skin getting battered by the cold and the wind by day, but it was drying out rapidly at night as we slept in a house with heating and little moisture. While a humidifier and my face moisturiser helped a little, my skin looked tired and dry and, worst of all, those fine lines were really obvious.

When I returned home I went a little gung-ho on my beauty regime and added a number of new products to the mix. It’s a part of my Six Week Beauty Challenge, which you can read about here.

I kick started my new mission with a facial at Jocelyn Petroni, where my skin apparently drank up all the hydrating products and couldn’t get enough.

The next day I began my quest for ultimate skin hydration. Here are the Four Products You Need to Keep Your Skin Hydrated. If you’re looking to hydrate your skin, I swear by this combination of products!

Tell me dear reader, what do you look to achieve with your current skin care regime?

MAC Cosmetics Lightful C Marine-Bright Formula Softening Lotion

I learnt about this product a few years ago and have used it every single day since. MAC’s Softening Lotion contains three potent seaweed extracts and vitamin C, to nourish, hydrate and revitalise the skin.

Your skin really does appear brighter instantly. The lotion also acts as a primer, preparing the skin for all your other products and makeup. I know many of my makeup artist friends wear by this product and won’t apply even a scrap of makeup until they’ve applied the lotion.

How it works: I add more than a few drops to my palms after my shower and rub it all over my face. For days my skin is looking really dry then I’ll repeat this process twice, with about five minutes in between.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster

I stupidly didn’t take a serum with me to Canada and my skin definitely suffered.

Ole Henriksen’s #1 anti-aging serum is fantastic! Filled with orange and green tea extracts, True-C Complete and collagen, this potent serum glides on to the skin and brightens, firms and add’s all-day hydration.

How it works: After I’ve let MAC’s Softening Lotion soak into the skin I add a large pump to my palms and glide it all over my face. The serum absorbs quickly and you can instantly see a little glow.

Ultraceuticals Ultra Moisturiser Cream

During one of my facials at Jocelyn Petroni, Ultraceuticals Ultra Moisturiser Cream was applied and it smelt incredible. It also left my skin feeling soft and looking so, so fresh. Every (and I mean every) time I leave my facial, I always receive compliments on how fresh and glowing my skin looks.

This is one of the best moisturisers I’ve ever used and with vitamin E, Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides, it really does add optimum hydration to my skin. Best of all, it’s suitable for dry and sensitive skin types.

How it works: I apply a generous amount of moisturiser to my skin after applying the serum. I let it soak into the skin five or so minutes, before adding my sunscreen and makeup. Did I mention that it smells incredible?

Dr Jart+ Water Fuse Water-Max Sleeping Mask

I researched hydrating beauty products for hours and kept coming across the Dr Jart+ Sleeping Mask. I read dozens of reviews and all raved about this hydrating gel, so I had to try it for myself.

This leave-on mask acts as a protective barrier, locking in moisture and nutrients while you sleep, which is when the body repairs itself.

Hyaluronic acid replenishes the skin’s needed moisture, while olive leaf and cranberry ingredients boost elasticity.

How it works: I apply this every second night, after applying a generous helping of my Ultraceuticals Moisturiser. I can always tell that my skin looks a little fresher the next morning. I love this product!
